See that screenshot there? That’s… that’s not an error. That’s what Gateways actually looks like.

Smudged Cat Games’ Gateways was a winner of Microsoft’s Dream Build Play competition in early2012, and today we finally get to see the finished product. The primary gameplay mechanic is a gun that creates gateways through which you can travel. While that may sound familiar, you’ll discover different guns that have different abilities – the most mind-bending of which allows you to go back in time to team up with yourself to solve puzzles.

There’s not shortage of creativity in the way the map opens up or with how the gateways are employed, and they work in tandem to create a very rewarding platforming experience. It’s hard to go wrong with this title, especially for only five dollars.
