The Best Places to Buy Videogame Clothing

It goes without saying that I write on this website because I love videogames. Playing them, discussing them, writing about them – they’re a big part of my daily life. And I’m sure that the reason you come read our stuff is because you feel the same.

So, like anything I’m passionate about, I like to wear my love for videogames on my sleeve. I mean that literally as well as metaphorically – I like to wear videogame related clothing.

By this point, you’re probably groaning. And I’d understand why. When a person thinks of “videogame clothing,” I’m sure the first thing that comes to his or her mind is a Hot-Topic tee, with a game’s logo plastered across the front of the shirt, in proud display for all to see. Something like this:

Either that, or an overly obnoxious, pun-filled shirt like…well, this:

Ugh.

Don’t get me wrong, both of those things are perfectly wearable…if the only trip you’re planning to go on is to the nearest grocery store and back. But beyond that, I’m of the belief that both types of shirts above simply don’t do our beloved hobby – nor our sense of fashion – much justice.

And so, we reach the crux of the problem: Where can one get fashionable, game-related clothing? Well, dear reader, due to my exploratory nature (read: I spend too much time on the internet) I have found some of the best websites to show your love for games, and look good doing it.

Insert Coin

  Eggman Industries

First up is Insert Coin, a UK based site that produces some of the most high quality gaming apparel I’ve ever had the pleasure of getting my hands on. Insert Coin gets bonus points in that it deals in all sorts of game/geek related apparel, from Assassins Creed to Sonic the Hedgehog, and even more obscure series like Jet Set Radio and Shenmue. Along with their designs, Insert Coin makes all of their shirts from scratch, ensuring that when you put that Zelda shirt on, it will be as comfortable as can be. It’s a little bit on the pricey side, especially if you live on the west side of the pond. But that’s what we do for fashion, no?

Shark Robot

I’ll be the first to admit it: Shark Robot can be a bit hit or miss when it comes to their clothing. But in my opinion, their videogame stuff is more hit than miss, with some pretty stylish tees and hoodies, and jokes that don’t make you cringe when you see them. Also, come on! A shirt with corgis, indisputably the best dogs ever, dressed up as your favorite videogame heroes? That warrants a spot on the list.

Fangamer

This last website is one that I consider the best of them when it comes to game clothing. I stumbled across Fangamer when joining a relatively obscure Earthbound forum. From then on, it was love at first sight.

There are a few reasons that I hold Fangamer in such high regard. First of all, they have tons of things for you to choose from, with new stuff being added every few weeks. And all of it is incredibly high quality. The shirts and hoodies are nerdy enough for the truly passionate to give a nod of approval as you walk by. And for everyone else, it’s simply a cool looking article of clothing. The ink is printed on American Apparel clothing, and I can personally attest to the fact that these are probably the most comfortable shirts on the planet. Screenshots simply don’t do the quality of these shirts justice.

Beyond that, they also sell great looking posters, chiptune albums, figurines, buttons, keychains, stickers, hats, lapel pins – you name it, and they probably have it. And you will love it, too.

But, perhaps the biggest reason I love Fangamer is their high quality of customer service. The team that manages the website is incredibly friendly and always willing to lend a hand if you have an issue. And when you buy a shirt, you always get more than you expected. Crafts, buttons, stickers, and sometimes personal drawings from the staff artists. There’s a certain personal touch to their work, I can’t help but gush about it. The only negative I can think of is that their items get sold so fast, you may not be able to get the one you want if you aren’t quick!

So there you have it, folks. The next time you want to deck yourself out in nerd gear, consider these three websites. Their apparel is stylish, yet subtle. Perfect for any gaming fan!

  • Callum Fraser-Sharp

I know the price point is way up there, but volante design makes the best game inspired clothes. Musterbrand also launched great clothing lines for Peace Walker, resident evil, deus ex human revolution and assassins creed. The musterbrand clothes are all of amazing craftsmanship and quality but the sites are all being revamped right now. Theres just way more fan support and reaponse for clothes better than scratchy t-shirts

Both are great stores! I actually own the Deus Ex trenchcoat!

And I agree. A high quality piece of clothing goes a long way in making me want to purchase it. I always felt uncomfortable in my shirts till I got ones made of better material, like from Fangamer and Express.
